The children's building is alive with excitement on Sundays and Wednesdays. Our children are excited to learn bible stories, build strong friendships and a foundation in Christ. They are your children?they are our children?they are God's Children! First Baptist Church takes seriously Jesus charge to let the little children come unto him. Under the leadership of Jennifer Bracey and the Children's Council, First Baptist Church ministers to children through Sunday School, Wonderful Wednesdays, and a host of other opportunities specifically for children.
SPECIAL PROJECTS: Building Bird Houses and The High Priest Visits!

We are excited about our renovated children's building and in September Sunday School took on a new look. We began Rotation Sunday School. There is a Temple Room, Cinema Room, Bible Skills Room, Art Room, and Computer Room. The children rotate through each one of the rooms, one each Sunday, for 4 to 6 weeks. In a different room each Sunday they learn the same bible story in five different ways, through art, drama, viewing, games and computers. For example, in September when the children learned about Moses, a group watched a movie about the life of Moses one week. They acted out the story of Moses in the Temple Room, which is designed to look like the Jerusalem Temple, the next week. The third week, they went to the Bible Skills Room to play games that reinforce the lesson. The rotation continued as the group went into the Computer Room, where specialized software and web based programs was used. The last rotation was in the Art room, where they created a work of art to depict what they learned.
Several other rooms in the Children's Building were renovated, in addition to rooms used in the rotation schedule. A station for nursing mothers was added to the nursery and two pre-school rooms were renovated to add learning centers for kids.
There is a "parent and worker retreat room," designed to have the comfortable feeling of a living room. Throughout the building are child friendly colors with various hues of yellows, reds, and blues.
All children from first grade through fifth grade are invited to worship with us in the Sanctuary. This means they will be learning to worship by observing you and those around them. They will sing the hymns, greet one another, pass the offering plate, and hear the sermon. We don't expect our children to sit still. We know this is impossible for many of our adults to do during the service. In the breezeway a bookshelf will be available for children to choose a book, crayons, and paper along with their children's bulletin. Children are welcome to color, or read a book during the sermon.
Another change that will take place is children will be participating in our Worship Service. Children in grades K-2 will be bringing in the Word. They will bring a Bible in and lay it on the pulpit. While children 3rd-5th grade will be bringing in the Light. They will be lighting the candles at the alter.
We invite you to come and be a part of this exciting new program and experience the eagerness in our children as they search out and discover God's world and word.
